Amberley Parish Council has rented the football field located to the east of Newland Gardens from the Parham Estate since 1964. When the Gibson Trust decided to divest the land, they kindly gave the Parish Council the first opportunity to buy it before offering it to the open market.
Following negotiations, we have managed to reach an agreement. Whilst the land is outside the permitted development area, with the purchase we are able to permanently protect the football field as a green amenity space for residents and local football clubs. Amberley Parish Council has agreed to purchase the football field to the east of Newland Gardens for £50,000. We are now working with our solicitors to finalize the paperwork and secure a Public Works Board Loan. We also plan to use this transition to upgrade the site’s security and access by replacing the old wooden gates with safer, more substantial fencing along the B2139.
The purchase and upgrades will be funded using existing Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds and the loan. Because of our careful long-term budgeting and strong reserves, your local precept will not increase to pay for this project. Read More...
